This 1991 production by the Lyon National Opera presents a welcome opportunity to revel in a uniquely Gallic confection rarely seen outside France. It's also a chance to enjoy one of Offenbach's most inventive, melodic scores in which the starring musical role and many of the best tunes go to the orchestra, here conducted by Jean-Yves Ossonce. This is no accident: the operetta was originally created for a company of actors who relied on pastiche and the composer's help to get them through their "numbers". Not so these singers, of course. As Metella, the languorous courtesan who is responsible for the unravelling debacle, Helene Delavault is in meltingly good voice for her show-stopping rondeau, "A minuit sonnant commence la fete". Her sparring suitors Gardefeu (Jean-Francois Sivadier) and, particularly, Bobinet (Jacques Verzier) combine marvellous visual comedy with fluid singing and there is some dazzling vocal work from the supporting cast. It's a long piece, but hugely enjoyable.

La petite vie was first a stage sketch of the comedy duo Ding et Dong, formed by Claude Meunier and Serge Thériault, and later a hit Quebec television sitcom aired by Radio-Canada from 1993 to 1999. In total, 59 episodes were created plus 3 specials, two for Christmas and one for New Year's 2000.It is to date the only Canadian TV show to ever gather more than 4 million viewers, a performance it achieved twice in 1995.

École Marie-Labrecque is a one-of-a-kind institution: The 60 girls who study at the school are all between the ages of 12 and 17, and they're all pregnant or new mothers. The school's mission is twofold: to give them an education and to prepare them for motherhood. It's It's a huge challenge and they have only a few months to get ready.

Between her four children, her husband, her job at the hardware store, and the creditors on her back, Hélène leads a life that dangerously resembles a makeshift camp in a constant state of emergency. She muddles through as best she can.

When she asks for a divorce, Elisa knows she's losing everything that made her daily life during ten years of marriage. The worst is that she may lose her children, claimed by her husband. She had only few months to rebuild. Find a job. Prove to the judge she can hold her family... A rebuilding that leads her to push her own limits, to put herself in danger, to learn how to trust people again and to discover a new herself... and, eventually, to fall in love again.

A businessman gets depressed when his wife leaves him and he learns that his IQ is very low. A friend, a clown in hospitals, wants to cheer him up.
